"sandy" blockage in 5 year old MALE CAT no infection noted.
MALE CAT named EARL catheterised last Thursday- due to blockage
Apparently it wasn't a stone but a "sandy" blockage _ no infection noted.
The vet said he was good - He was sent home Saturday - No antibiotics were needed.
On his way home there was urine in his cage
I didn't think much of it
However since then he can not hold his bladder... it just seeps out - while he is standing or sleeping
Asked the vet if this was normal
He said watch it a few days... I am not sure if this is normal...
Not sure what I should do!?

Without knowing your cat, his history or what your vet is thinking, it's almost impossible to even suggest what "might" be going on. And, keep in mind that we are a community of cat lovers here, and even if we are veterinary professionals, we cannot diagnose or suggest treatment for a cat whose medical history we are completely unfamiliar with, nor should we as we could cause more damage than good. I would suggest that since this is Wednesday, if your cat is still leaking urine, which is not normal, you need to call your vet today. The bladder and urethra are complex mechanisms which operate mostly under the power of muscles contracting and relaxing. There are ducts and valves, and any number of issues can occur with any of these things. Since you are obviously not content with your vet's suggestions, you do need to call them with an update and ask what their course of treatment will be from here.

Stupid vet. Your Earl has cystitis. It means crystals are formed in the bladder usually from a high ash content in their diet. Cheap cat food contains a high amount of ash to act as a filler. That's not all the other ingredients are mostly indigestible. This makes a God awful diarrhea mess in Kitty's box.(if he can make it to the box) and a major strain on your cats delicate digestive system. Cheap is not always the best way to save. High quality cat foods are low in ash, palitable, and highly digestable. This means less stool. Stools are mostly made of dry fiber. Because the food is mostly digested Kitty benefits not only from better nutrition but with less strain on their systems without harmful fillers. They eat a lot less. Poop a lot less. Require less vet care and live longer. Sometimes less is lmore. Purnia and other companys have made billions of dollars on our pets dead bodies.read labels and articles on cat nutrition. Purinia One? Really? The only One they care about
