Hey Harlequin, this is the type of tag I use on my Beastie Band.

Collar Tag

It has my name, the words INDOOR CAT, moms cell number and home number, or the vet #. Mom can't remember. But its still as shiny as it was the day it came in, its been on for about 5 months or so! wave

Both of our kitties are microchipped just in case. Scooter never goes outside so she wears no collar. Cheyenne is outside half the time so she wears a harness. We had trouble with the breakaway collars getting caught on things and breaking off all the time. The regular collars made me nervous. With the harness, if she were to get caught on something the pressure would be on her chest rather than her neck. She has been wearing her harness more than a year and has never snagged on anything though.

Rossi is micro-chipped, and is strictly an indoor kitty. I don't keep a collar on her at home for fear that she will get it get hung up on something when im not home or she will get it stuck on her mouth (this has happened before) When we visit my parents or go out anywhere I do put one on her just in case she gets out, but it is a break away collar.

Both of my cats have collars. I used to have break away collars, but they were so cheap, you'd touch it lightly, and it'd fall off. So now both Stinkers and Sylvester have traditional buckle collars, but next to the buckle it has stretchy elastic so it can slip right over their heads with ease. I also have harnesses for both of my cats, as when they do go outside I like to walk them with harnesses.

Allie always wears a collar with ID tag because she isn't microchipped. (She's indoors only so it's simply a precaution). I just bought a new collar today actually. It's a velvet-lined break away. I picked it because it was the softest and most pliable. I've never had a problem with her getting stuck on anything.

Hunter that is the type we use too. We really like them!

Unfortunately every collar I wear leaves a big bald ring around my neck. frown We've tried lots of types and they all do this, so far. I don't know if it's an allergy or just due to rubbing. I have tried Beastie Bands, cotton collars, silk collars, knit wool collars, etc...
I am going to try a leather collar next.

We don't wear collars at all. If we go out, I have a harness, and Ranger & Turbokitty stay in the carrier-they're scaredy cats. My mom once had a kitty hang herself on a flea collar. They could hear her struggling and crying, but couldn't find her. She was stuck trying to get into the attic from the outside. By the time they found her and got a ladder, it was too late. Mom says it was a horrible experience and she'll NEVER put a collar on another kitty.

All of us are indoor cats, and we haven't ever worn collars. Kiki, my mom is 15, and has no interest in going outside. I have a passing interest in it, but don't try to escape, and I'm 14. Kosu, our one year old house mate, is microchipped, so if she ever runs out the door and can't be caught, someone will know she belongs to us.

We had a classic collar on our female, but once we introduced our male to the home we were too afraid of it getting snagged during playtime. I've heard conflicting things about the breakaway collars so I haven't invested in any yet.

I use a break-away collar. Works great. She has on a couple occasions actually gotten caught on something and it did its job. I only keep one on her now because where we live gets REALLY cold and there are foxes and eagles and hawks... I want her returned home asap if she gets out.
